Looking back, my career has always been about people.

As a teacher, I learned that meaningful learning begins with empathy and genuine connection. As an academic advisor and program manager, I saw that some of the most impactful learning happens outside the classroom as people navigate unfamiliar systems, make important decisions, and search for clarity during moments of uncertainty. Those experiences taught me that every interaction has the potential to become a meaningful learning experience, whether it takes place in a classroom, an advising appointment, a website, or a digital tool.

Today, as a Learning Experience Designer at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, I partner with faculty and cross-functional stakeholders to design online and in-person learning experiences for graduate and professional learners. My work includes course design, faculty consultation, digital experience design, process improvement, and developing resources that make complex ideas easier to understand and apply.

What makes these experiences meaningful to me is not that they are different, but that they have each deepened my understanding of people. Teaching taught me how people learn. Advising taught me how people make decisions and build confidence. Program management taught me how systems shape experiences. Learning experience design has brought those perspectives together, allowing me to design with greater empathy, ask better questions, and create experiences that support both individual needs and organizational goals.

No matter the project, I continue to return to the same question:

How can thoughtful design help people understand, navigate, and engage with their experiences?

As a Learning Experience Designer, I partner with faculty and cross-functional stakeholders to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of online and in-person learning experiences for graduate and professional learners. My work spans Online MBA course builds, redesigns, reworks, onboarding experiences, and professional development initiatives. I also led the development of our site's Learning Experience Design Residency Program, creating onboarding resources, mentoring students, and establishing a structured experience that supports their transition into the role. I combine project management, human-centered design, learning science, and data-informed decision-making to guide projects from discovery through implementation while balancing multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholder needs.

A significant part of my role involves building trusted partnerships with faculty by tailoring my approach to meet each individual where they are. While maintaining alignment with institutional standards and best practices, I recognize that every faculty member brings different experiences, goals, communication styles, and levels of confidence with online teaching. Through consultation, facilitation, rapid prototyping, learner feedback, and continuous improvement practices, I create resources, templates, and workflows that reduce ambiguity and support meaningful collaboration throughout the design process. I also incorporate thoughtful approaches to AI literacy and emerging technologies into course design, encouraging learners and faculty to use technology intentionally in ways that strengthen critical thinking, engagement, and authentic learning rather than replace them.
